Six buses: five compressed natural gas-powered buses Castrosua City Versus Citelis CNG and one natural gas- and electricity-powered bus Castrosua Tempus Hybrid were allocated to the residents of Ukmergė under the Special Climate Change Programme ‘Replacement of low emission buses through the renewal of bus fleet vehicles’. The residents of Ukmergė received all the vehicles for free.

According to the head of the company, investment in the new vehicles amounted at about 6 million LTL. ‘Of course, such the amount would be not affordable for us. Therefore we are glad of having participated in the project and received the new, eco-friendly buses’, said Mr A. Prabišas.

The Mayor of the town Vidas Paknys was also very gratified by the new vehicles. He expressed gratitude for the work done and for the new vehicles both to the company’s management and contractors, as well as to suppliers and members of the City Council. ‘We see that by working together, we can achieve a lot. The new buses will beautify the town and provide the residents completely different quality of public transport’, told the Mayor of the town.

A member of Seimas Arūnas Dūdėnas also came to greet the residents of Ukmergė, who have received the new buses. ‘Undoubtedly, the town could not allocate as much funds to the company as it was required for the acquisition of the new buses. Upon driving of the new, eco-friendly buses, the streets of the town will become cleaner, it means that we will leave the world cleaner for our children’, said Mr A. Dūdėnas.

Darius Juozapavičius, the Technical Director of the company SG Dujos, which equipped a compressor station of compressed natural gas in Ukmergė, rejoiced over successful cooperation with the carriers. ‘In pre-Christmas period, it is joyful to receive gifts and we’re pleased to participate in the gift-giving ceremony. It is great that the streets of Ukmergė will adorn with the new vehicles, and we, in our turn, promise more modern innovations. If necessary, we will enhance the capacity of the current compressor station’, said Mr D. Juozapavičius.

The Dean of the town Ukmergė sanctified the new buses in order they would safely and comfortably carry the residents of the town through the streets of Ukmergė. All, who wanted, could take a ride in one of the new buses and observe how the cylinders of vehicles are filled with natural gas.
